PUDUCHERRY: Lieutenant-Governor Govind Singh Gurjar on Monday presented awards to several persons for meritorious service, at the Republic Day celebrations.
Inspector of Police, Chief Stores, V.T. Abdul Raheem and Women Police Constable M. Rajaveni were presented the President’s Police Medal, 2008 for their excellent service while on law and order duty.
Lieutenant-Governor’s Police Medal, 2009 was given to Head Constable Thiruvizhanthur Santhana Ramasamy Vasan and Sub-Inspector of Grand Bazaar police station Subburayan Palanivelu for their extraordinary service.
Mr. Gurjar presented awards to Master Mohammed Javeed, prodigy in chess, K.D. Sethna alias Amal Kiran, resident of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, and P. Raja, lecturer in English literature at Tagore Arts College for their contribution to the field of literature.
He also honoured Selvan Tejakumar, Standard X student of Thamizh Tendral Thiru Vi Ka Government High School, and G. Suria Prebha for winning laurels at the Junior Level National Athletic Competition and Asian Power Lifting Championship respectively. President of Shuddham and Pondy CAN Prabir Kumar Banerjee was honoured for excellence in social service.
Mr. Gurjar presented the Chief Minister’s rolling trophy for outstanding performance in school final examination to St. Joseph of Cluny Girls Higher Secondary School, Servite English High School, St. Joseph Girls High School, Jayarani Girls High School, Sri Sankara Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Karaikal Ammaiyar English High School, PONCOS High School, Subramania Bharathi English High School, Shanmuga English High School, Holy Flowers English High School and Immaculate Heart of Mary’s High School. |
